About Course

Overview This practical qualification allows learners to explore, develop and test their creativity within a stimulating and demanding programme structure. Covering fashion and textile techniques and processes, ideas generation, design and innovation, textile realisations, personal and professional development in the apparel industry and a final major project, the diploma equips learners with the key skills required to work in the fashion and textiles industry or progress to fashion-related undergraduate degree study. The qualification is equivalent to GCE A Levels and carries UCAS tariff points.

  • 12 Months (Full Time or Part Time)
  • Hours: 630 Guided Learning Hours
  • Total Qualification Time: 1200 hours

Assessment All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. Assessment is portfolio-based and includes practical work, design projects and a final major project. No exams.

Requirements/Instructions

  • Learners must attend all scheduled sessions or engage fully with directed learning activities
  • All units including the Final Major Project must be submitted by the deadlines provided
  • Learners should have access to materials, tools and equipment as specified by the delivery centre
  • Academic integrity must be maintained at all times
  • A&P Pack or controlled knowledge assessments may be required for specific units

Progression and Career Outcomes Many UK universities acknowledge this qualification and may consider learners for direct entry into Year 1 of a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textiles, Costume Design or a related creative subject. The qualification carries UCAS tariff points. Career opportunities include fashion design assistant, textile technician, garment production operative and fashion retail assistant.
