About Course

Overview This qualification gives learners a solid background in the theoretical and practical skills necessary to understand the range of cyber security risks that face individuals and organisations. Learners gain foundational knowledge in computer science and mathematics, develop a broad understanding of information technology, computer architecture and networks, and operating systems, and acquire practical skills in developing digital applications and software. The qualification develops within learners a grasp of essential digital security practices and an understanding of the mindset of malicious threat actors, preparing them for roles in cyber security and further study.

Assessment All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. Assessment is via assignment submission only. No exams.

  • Learners must have access to a computer with internet connection capable of running required software tools
  • Academic integrity must be maintained at all times; learners should be aware of OTHM’s guidance on AI use in assessments
  • Practical tasks may require access to virtual environments or lab-based tools

Progression and Career Outcomes Progression to the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Cyber Security or direct entry to Year 2 of a UK Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security or Computer Science. Career opportunities include junior cyber security analyst, IT support technician, network administrator and software development assistant.
