About Course
Overview Building on the foundational theories of the Level 4 Diploma, this Level 5 qualification develops learners’ understanding of more advanced topics in early childhood education and development. The programme explores early years pedagogy and best practices, child behaviour, inclusion and diversity, safeguarding and child protection, digital literacy and emerging technologies in the early years, and supporting children through transitions. Successful completion equips learners with the specialist knowledge needed to work confidently as a practitioner or progress to university-level study.

Assessment All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. Assessment is via written assignments only. No exams.
Requirements/Instructions
- Learners must attend all scheduled sessions or engage fully with online learning materials
- All assignments must be submitted by the deadlines provided
- Learners must have access to a computer or device with internet connection
- Academic integrity must be maintained at all times
- Delivery centres must have academic staff with a degree or equivalent in Early Years, Psychology or a health-related field
Progression and Career Outcomes Progression to the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Early Childhood Education or direct entry to the final year of a UK Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies, Education or Psychology. Career opportunities include senior early years practitioner, SENDCo support worker, nursery manager, family engagement officer and early intervention practitioner.
