About Course
Overview This 240-credit qualification combines the OTHM Level 4 and Level 5 Diploma in Early Childhood Education into a single programme — the equivalent of two years of undergraduate study. It provides a comprehensive and fast-track pathway through the full early childhood education curriculum, from foundational child development theories through to advanced safeguarding, inclusion, SEN, digital literacy and transitions. On completion, learners are eligible for direct entry to the final year of a UK Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies or Education.
Total Course Duration
- 18 to 24 Months (Full Time)
- Hours: 1200 Guided Learning Hours
- Total Qualification Time: 2400 hours
Module Structure Covers all 12 mandatory units from both the Level 4 and Level 5 Diploma in Early Childhood Education for a combined total of 240 credits.
Assessment All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. Assessment is via written assignments only. No exams.
Requirements/Instructions
- Learners must attend all scheduled sessions or engage fully with online learning materials
- All assignments must be submitted by the deadlines provided
- Learners must have access to a computer or device with internet connection
- Academic integrity must be maintained at all times
- Delivery centres must have academic staff with a degree or equivalent in Early Years, Psychology or a health-related field and GCSEs (A–C) in Maths and English
Progression and Career Outcomes Direct entry to the final year of a UK Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies, Education, Psychology or Childhood and Youth Studies at universities including Northumbria, Arden, Staffordshire, Coventry and Sunderland. Career paths include nursery manager, early years lead, SENDCo, family support coordinator, children’s centre manager and early intervention specialist.
